Our Other Services
All of our therapists are experienced in providing teletherapy for all of the issues that we treat in our office.
All sessions, in the office, or online, are 53 to 60 minutes long. We use a HIPAA compliant teleconferencing service which
allows us to provide dependable, confidential online therapy at no cost to you.
Please be prepared for your online session by having a computer, laptop or other device which has a
camera and a microphone, and have a meeting place where you have privacy and can speak freely without
being overheard. Unless your session is paid for by your insurance, credit card payments for
teletherapy are taken by your therapist at the end of each session. We are happy to provide you with
a free online ten minute consultation if you would like to see whatmeeting online would be like.
For your convenience, telephone sessions are also available.
Most insurances will not cover online or telephone counseling but that is changing as more and more
insurances are viewing teletherapy as a viable and practical solution for clients who can’t drive,
are disabled in various ways, or do not live within close proximity to our office.
Anyone who lives in Pennsylvania is eligible to receive services
from our PA Counseling Online site (coming soon!)
Letters for Transgender Clients
Kahl Counseling provides letters for transgender clients who are ready to go on hormones or will be
undergoing associated surgeries. We care about the safety and comfort of our transgender clients and
we strive to meet the WPATH Standards of Care. Under most circumstances we require twelve sessions
before providing letters for hormones and six months of therapy before providing letters for surgeries.
Most insurances will cover the cost of therapy for transgender clients but, when the time comes, the
actual letter requires a one-time out of pocket expense of $100, which may be paid with cash, check or
credit card. This out of pocket expense includes the writing of the letter, faxing it to the medical
facility which will be providing your hormones prescription or surgery, and providing you with a
copy if you would like one for your records.
Supervision for Prospective LPCs
Our therapist Paula Bellavance is experienced in providing individual and group supervision
for prospective LPCs who are accumulating hours toward licensure. Supervision may take place
in our office or at an outside location. Fees are negotiable. Group supervision may also be
Keynote and Other Speaking Engagements
Polly Kahl is a veteran public speaker as well as an experienced guest on radio and television shows and at conferences, including providing
keynote addresses. Topics she is experienced in speaking on include trauma, overcoming
childhood abuse, hoarding, and working with transgender clients. She would be happy to
create an individualized keynote or other presentation to meet your group’s needs.
Fees & Insurance
We accept most major insurances as well as private pay, also known as “out of pocket” payments.
If you choose to use your insurance, we’ll verify your coverage prior to your first visit and will
inform you of any deductibles or copays. Some clients choose to pay out of pocket rather than utilizing
their insurance. There are several advantages to not using your insurance.
When you pay out of pocket you can see any therapist you’d like to see rather than being limited to
therapists in network with your insurance company. When you pay out of pocket your therapist is not
required to give you a clinical diagnosis which may become part of your permanent record with your
insurance company. And with private pay, your insurance company will also not have legal access to
your counseling records, including your therapeutic session notes. Kahl Counseling offers two out of
pocket fees. Our full fee is $135 and we have a reduced hardship rate of $110 per session. Rather than asking for your pay stubs or for personal information about your finances,
we go by the honor system, allowing you to choose which fee is affordable to you.
